Prayers of Forgiveness Bookmark and Share

Forgiveness can be not only a huge blessing in your own life, but also in the life of the person that you are forgiving. Forgiving others is oftentimes one of the hardest things to do, but even harder yet may be asking for forgiveness. What of those that we forgive that do not accept our forgiveness? We are still freed from our sorrow and from packing around excess baggage by forgiving them. Forgiveness is one of the most important things to practice as we go through life, and if you are carrying around bitterness and anger, these are unhealthy feelings that you must rid yourself of. The following prayers will help you discover the power of forgiveness.

#1

Lord Jesus, I confess that I have sinned against You, others and myself. I call upon You, Jesus, and ask You to forgive me from all sin.  Especially in the realms of unforgiveness, any word curses against myself or anyone, rebellion and/or strife.  I apply the blood of Jesus over myself.  In 1 John 1:9 You say, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  So I thank you Jesus that I am forgiven!

Father, I receive Your forgiveness that Jesus Christ paid for right now and thank You for it. Thank You that Jesus has been made unto me Wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.  Lord Jesus, You sanctify me through Your truth: Your word is truth (1).   As David prayed, Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.  Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.  Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You. (Ps 51:10-13)
Father in the name of Jesus, I commit myself to a sanctified life-a life of holiness, pleasing to You.  I submit myself to You, Lord; spirit, soul and body.  I commit to true repentance, a daily life of continually turning towards Your life, changing my direction and maturing under the counsel and directing of the Holy Spirit, Your word and submitting to Your leadership.  In Jesus name, AMEN

Father, I make a quality decision to forgive.  Your Word says in 1 John 1:9 that when I repent, You are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me of my sin.  I will not allow unforgiveness to block my blessings, neither will it prevent me from loving at all times.  (Prov. 17:17.)  Right now I speak to the mountain of unforgiveness, and say, Be removed from my life forever, in Jesus' name. (Matt. 21:21)In the name of Jesus, I will sow forgiveness and therefore reap forgiveness.  I declare that I will not walk in unforgiveness another day in my life.  By the confession of my mouth, I renounce unforgiveness.  And in the name of Jesus, I set my will to forgive.  I am covered by the blood. I declare my freedom from the spirits that torment me.  I declare today that, by the Spirit of God, every area of my life that has been bound by the spirit of unforgiveness is set free.  Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. (John 8:36.)  Therefore, every demonic force, every tormentor, I command you now, leave me!  Leave my household!  Leave my children!  Leave my family!  Be gone! As the redeemed of the Lord, I declare now that whatever I say is so!  (Ps. 107:2.)  I say I am free, and it is so.  I say I walk in forgiveness, and it is so.  Right now, I release every individual I've held ill feelings against.  I roll all my cares concerning them over on You, Lord God, and I'm free from them.  (1 Peter 5:7)Now I fully expect hundredfold return of everything that I've missed as a result of unforgiveness.  In the name of Jesus, I call the power back.  I call the anointing back.  I call prosperity back.  I call deliverance back.  In Jesus' name, I am totally restored and completely free. Dear Lord, we desire to be fully given to You.  Forgive us for offering costless sacrifices and borrowed gifts.  Jesus, we want to pay the full price.  We know the issue is not what I can do for You but rather what You can make of me.  We surrender all to You our Lord and King.  May the quality of our life be suitable for You house.  Grant us a heart of faith and worship to bring my Isaac to the altar.  In Jesus name, Amen.

#3

Dear Jesus, forgive us/me for thinking we/I can fake our/my walk with You and that You would bless and protect our/my falsehood.  Lord Jesus we/I want to be real!  We/I want our/my relationship with You Lord Jesus to be substantial, to totally consume us with Your purifying fire until all the world sees is You Lord.  We pray for the Baptism of fire to burn away the scaffolding of empty religious rituals, activities, and impurities.  Let Your power and love be the credibility of our lives, home, and churches. In Jesus Name, Amen.

#4

Lord, forgive us for our lack of prayer and the weakness of our love for You.  Jesus, Lord, we want to be like You, that when we see need, instead of criticizing it, we lay down our lives for it.  In Jesus Name, Amen

#5

Lord Jesus, You deserve our hearts.  Forgive us for allowing ourselves to be distracted by the world and our ambitions and opinions.  Lord, by Your grace we commit ourselves to Your purposes, that our lives will be qualitatively capable of You house, and our words will be Your words, which are worthy of endorsement of Your power.  In Jesus Name, Amen

I confess that I do not give up! I do not throw in the towel! I do not surrender to defeat. Defeat and failure have no place inside me. Because of Jesus living in me, His resurrection power equips me to keep going even when the enemy wages his best warfare against me! I claim this by faith in Jesus' name!

#7

Lord Jesus, I confess that I have held ill feelings and resentments against people (Name them, living or dead). I call upon you and ask you to help me to forgive people, groups, institutions, churches, governments, and myself.  I ask you Father, in the name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to drop in my mind and bring to my remembrance the name of anyone or anything, whose actions or words real or imagined hurt me, or another person for which I hold or have held ill feelings and resentments, hate, envy, malice, vengeance, Unforgiveness, bitterness or grudges against. Father, as you forgave me when I did not deserve to be forgiven, so likewise, I forgive, whether they deserve it or not; in Jesus name, Amen

O Lord, forgive Our insensitivity to the needs of others, 0 Lord, forgive. Our prejudice and fear that prevent us from loving, 0 Lord, forgive. The narrowness of our vision and our shrinking from your demands, 0 Lord, forgive. Our resentment against those who have hurt us, 0 Lord, forgive. Our desire to do your work in our way, 0 Lord, forgive. Our impatiance with those who are different from us, 0 Lord, forgive. Our failure to listen properly to other points of view, 0 Lord, forgive. Our fear of coming out of the fortress of our own souls into fuller life and deeper love, 0 Lord, forgive. Amen.

Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
