A Grateful Reminder
Have you asked yourself what you were thankful for today? If you are like most people, you would think that nothing really big happened for you to be thankful for; quite contrarily, this day was like any other, with more disappointments than good things.
Quite possibly, you think this way because you only took into account that bad things that happened in this day and just took the good things for granted. Like, having three meals a day, or being able to afford to brush your teeth in the morning, or to just simply be alive to face a new day with infinite possibilities.
It's about time that people from all over start counting their blessings more, and moreover, thanking God for it. A gratitude prayer at the start and end of your day is all you need to put things in perspective.
Gratitude Prayers
First, begin by giving thanks for the people around you. It may seem like family can be a burden sometimes, but these people are the ones who will love you unconditionally no matter what you do. Be thankful to God for giving them and continually giving them to you and their contributions to your life, and their safety throughout the day as well.
You may also pray about the people that guide you in life; leaders you look up to, teachers who point you in the right direction. Be thankful that you have such people to help you through the daily struggles, and count each of them as a blessing in your life.
If you are able to read this, then be thankful as well that your body is in working condition. Some people do not have this luxury of a healthy body and a literate mind, and remember to pray for them as well. Pray for the people that do not have the blessings that you have right now, and be thankful about what you have.
And lastly, always be thankful that you are alive and are now living on this wonderful earth. In every day that you live, you will encounter both beautiful, happy things, as well as the negative. But do not count all the wrongs.
Remember that as long as you are alive, you should be thankful, and by having the opportunity to live, you are already a step closer to correcting any mistakes you have done or was done to you. Always count the good, and give a gratitude prayer daily to remind yourself that God has always provided you with all that you will ever need; your life and His love.

Happiness Is...
This is a common question in a lot of books (and, more recently, on the profile page of most social networking sites): What is your definition of happiness?
For a lot of us in today's fast-paced and highly materialistic world, it's money. Because let's face it: money can make almost anything in this world available to us. Love to travel?
Cash up and get some first-class airline tickets to go see the beautiful sights all over the globe, or have fun at the world's most exotic beaches.
Love food? All you need is cash (or a high-limit credit card) and you can snack on anything, from food from the finest 5-star restaurants to guilty-good street fare.
Want social status? Go shopping for the most expensive clothes, cars, even escorts. Name it and it's probably for sale. But you can be sure that none of these "for sale" items will really give you true happiness.
All they can give you is a certain amount of superficial pleasure, and after a while, you can bet that it disappears, and everything just ends with you unsatisfied and once again on a spending run.
For others, a relationship defines happiness. Having a steady boyfriend or girlfriend, or being in a successful marriage, would be the things that make them happy. There is nothing wrong in aspiring for good relationships, but one cannot make it run one's life.
You cannot make your happiness and state of well being dependent on the actions and decisions of other people. Those of us who make relationships the main anchor for our happiness would find ourselves in a lot of trouble if ever these relationships do not work out or fall apart.
Whenever you find yourself solely being happy in relation to how others feel and what others do, then you're in trouble.
Happiness should not be defined by outside forces: it should be defined by an inner peace and satisfaction in one's self. It should not be defined by what the word has to offer you, but what you have to offer the world.
With this mindset, your own personal happiness cannot be taken away from you by less than ideal circumstances, whether it be in financial security or in your love life. Happiness is something you can give people, and with that, also feel it within your self.
Happiness a personal decision, not something that can be achieved through any other channel. Happiness is right within your grasp, ready for the taking.

While it is hard to forgive those who hurt us, it is often equally as hard to ask for forgiveness. Perhaps you can draw some inspiration from these forgiveness scriptures.
